Looking your Best for your Wedding

By Anne Fennell

As wedding season approaches, many couples are putting the final touches on their plans for this momentous occasion. On this big day, it's natural for everyone to want to look their best. Some men and women spend hundreds of dollars in the run-up to their wedding on beauty products and skincare treatments.

The lead up to a wedding can be stressful, so a back massage or facial is a good relaxation method. It can be very hectic doing all the planning, but if you get your nails done or have a spa day, it will help you unwind. But, consider another option that is growing in popularity in the wedding scene. More and more brides and groom-to-be's are turning to Botox to look their best. There is a lot of pressure to impress at a wedding; the pictures are going to stay with you for the rest of your life, so it is important that you feel confident in your skin.

Before your wedding, how long should you wait to have Botox?

At least one month before the big day, you should have the Botox injections. A test-run is important; even though Botox treatment is quick and safe, if you have never had it before it is understandable that you may feel a little nervous. After the initial treatment, it takes up to one or two weeks to see the full effects, so that is why the advice is to do it one month prior to the big day.

Also, you should avoid alcohol, facial massages and extreme changes in temperature such as steam rooms and sauna's for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure- so take this into account when arranging your wedding activities like stags and stagettes.

During the injection, you might feel minor pain or tenderness, but other than this Botox injections are pretty much pain-free. There may be some minor swelling immediately after the injection; but after about 30 minutes this normally settles. You may also get some slight bruising the next day, which is relatively uncommon, and is why we recommend you to get it done in advance.

The frown, forehead and eye wrinkles are generally treated sucessfully with Botox. During the big day, you may find yourself overwhelmed with emotions and this may be evident in your facial expressions. If you have any unwanted horizontal lines across your forehead, or frown lines in the area between your eyebrows, or crow's feet in the outer corner of the eyes and you want to get rid of them for your wedding, you can with the help of Botox.

Hyperhidrosis treatment, also known as excessive sweating treatment, is another treatment which is becoming popular to have before a wedding or other significant occasion. Some people are prone to excessive sweating in response to hot temperatures, stress or emotion which is more likely to be a problem on an important occasion such as your wedding.

With a wedding coming up, if you are thinking about Botox, be sure to give yourself at least a month so that your muscles can completely respond to the treatment, and you get the fullest results.
